Error when installing Aximmetry: Could not access network location

I'm trying to reinstall Aximmetry into one of my machines, but It's trying to find a folder from an older config I had for remote operation that no longer exist:

What should I do to make Aximmetry seek Its default path, with is C:\Users?

Hi,

In our newest release (2021.4.0) we have already solved this problem, whereas in the older versions you can try to reset the Global Preferences in the Startup Configurator.

Please, let us know if this does not solve the installation problem.

Warmest regards,

We've tried installing the current version (2021.4.0), but the same error still appears when computing space requirements. We also can't access the Startup Configurator to reset the Global Preferences, because Aximmetry is not installed anymore In this machine.

Hi,

For anyone facing similar issues.
We recommend trying to delete the following file:
c:\Users\xxxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Aximmetry DE\options__Aximmetry DE__xxxxxx\GlobalPreferences.xml

As well as these registry entries (if it exists) from Windows' Registry Editor and similar registry entries under Aximmetry's name:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Aximmetry Technologies\Aximmetry DE
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Aximmetry Technologies\Aximmetry\ProjectsDir

Warmest regards,

Hi HAGSVO,

Can you tell us more about your situation to help us find the source of the problem.

Do you have the same error (Could not access network location \\renderengine...)?
And which version of Aximmetry did you try to install?

Warmest regards,

I had(have) this same issue.

Support had me delete all instances of aximmetry, try windows uninstaller(which couldn't do anything), and I cleaned out the registry with ccleaner.

Nothing got rid of this problem.

What I did which worked, but may not work for everyone, is to install the software on another machine to a USB stick, then move the folders over to the first machine. Our machines are identical hardware, and the USB stick is like an SSD. YMMV

@Dwayne: If you read a few posts up in this thread you’ll find the solution. You need to go into the registry and edit it as described.

Hi Dwayne,

Did the one of methods above work for you? If not, can you tell us a bit more about your issue, like did you get the exact same error, and did you have Aximmetry installed previously?

Warmest regards

Hi,

none of the steps helped me to resolve the issue so I reinstalled windows with all apps removed and that helped but it took a little time!
