How to relink missing footage and assets

Hi there.

Probably a newbie question, but when I load the News Room Scene from the Studio Demo Setups, the paths to assets and footage are all wrong.

Although I can manually relink them individually (which is sort of tedious) or edit the xcomp file (which is sort of hacky...:-)) I was wondering if there's an option to  relink/find missing files.

Some function where you'd select a folder and Aximmetry would then recursively search all subfolders and relink the assets automagically?

I'm somehow sure that such a function exists, and I just haven't found it yet.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,

The assets are probably delinked cause you moved the whole folder.
Or you removed the folder containing it from Edit->Preferences->Project root folders:

(In this case, just re-add the Studio folder)

If this happened because you moved the whole project to a new computer, we strongly suggest using the Aximmetry.Packager.exe to package the whole project, which will ensure consistent paths when the package is used.

And there is indeed an easy way to relink them using the dependency manager:

Once there, you can shift select multiple items and replace their folder in their path:

After that, press execute:

Warmest regards,

Hi Eifert.

Thanks for the detailed response!
Indeed, manually adding the projects folder in the prefs did solve the issue!

For bug-tracking purposes, here's what happened:
- installed Aximmetry
- during install I chose a different path for the assets (say...C:\my\projects\) (*)
- selected assets where correctly installed in that path
- however, that path was not added to the prefs.

(*) The default path is [USER]\Documents\, but since in our IT infrastructure all user-folders are mirrored to the server on shutdown, and mirrored back when you login to the computer, that would result in tons of gigabytes being copied each morning, which in turn slows down the login process tremendously....

As for the dependency manager, it might be a feature request that if one replaced a path once (like say [Studio]), that replacement should be remembered for the current session.
Meaning: When after replacing the path new assets are loaded which depend on the original asset, which *also* contain the [Studio] path, the replacement of the paths in the newly loaded asset should take place automagically, based on the original replacement.

Again, thanks for your help. We're up & running now...:-)
