Anamorphic Footage Issue

If loading anamorphic footage from R3D (e.g. set to 2X anamorphic), the footage comes in squeezed (2x in this case) and not desqueezed.

Is there a way to desqueeze the anamorphic footage automatically (how it is done in other applications)?

The R3D has a way to desqueeze automatically based on the clip settings normally.

Hi Jim,

R3D videos are mainly used for visual post-production. Aximmetry can open these files, but we recommend using their own software for such post-production effects as anamorphic de-squeeze (REDCINE-X PRO).

Warmest regards,

Hi Eifert,

It’s not really a post effect, but rather the image/camera format is set to anamorphic inside the camera. In all other software supporting R3D, the footage is automatically desqueezed but in Aximmetry it does not seem to happen / appears distorted. This is something the SDK handles I believe.

Hi,

Issues with Anamorphic footage are going to be fixed in the next Aximmetry version.

If you need it to be fixed before the next version, then please write to sales@aximmetry.com and ask for a beta version while also mentioning your above issue (Anamorphic footage scaling).

Warmest regards,

Hi,

The latest version Aximmetry (2021.4.0) added support for anamorphic video formats in R3D. And general support of anamorphic video inputs.

Warmest regards,
