Hi everyone,
I hope you’re doing well.
When I update Aximmetry, do I need to replace the camera compounds in my existing projects?
For example, I use a customized MixedCam_Unreal_8+8-Cam compound in Aximmetry 2024.2. I recently upgraded to Aximmetry 2025.2. Do I have to re-import the MixedCam_Unreal_8+8-Cam compound and apply my customizations again, or can I keep using the same compound from the older version?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
Hi,
You do not need to reimport the camera compounds as long as they have not been edited (opened).
The best practice is to create linked compound(s) from the modules you add to the camera compound. This way, you only need to re-add your linked compound and reconnect it to the appropriate pins within the new version of the camera compound. If you have customized the compound by using the Edit Compound In Place option, then you will need to redo those changes.
This system of compounds is explained here under the Linked Compounds paragraph: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/scripting-in-aximmetry/flow-editor/compound/#linked-compound
After you have created linked compounds from your changes, you can use the Revert In-Place Modifications option on the camera compound to update it to the new version. This will effectively replace the camera compound with the new version of it and discard any modifications you made within it.
Warmest regards,
