Hi,
I'm setting up a studio with Aximmetry DE Broadcast and Vive Mars Camtrack. As such I now have 2 sets of calibration tools at hand and I was wondering if there was a comparison in terms of process/time/accuracy between both ?
On the one hand, I feel the Mars pre-printed board with an attached tracker is a very smart idea to make sure the orientation, location and size of the board is spot on, but the other one being native to aximmetry makes me wonder if there's a clear advantage.
I should note that I also have the Mars FIZ tracker to track the ZOOM/Focus of the lense, if that makes a difference.
Any idea or experience about that ?
Thanks a lot,
Eric
Hi,
If you're new to the system, using the Aximmetry Calibrator will take approximately 70 minutes. For lens calibration, you'll spend around 60 minutes. This covers six zoom positions, with each position taking about 10 minutes. If you're using fixed lenses (fixed zoom), then only one zoom position will need calibration. But you don't need to use fixed lenses since you have a Mars FIZ tracker to track the ZOOM. The tracking calibration will take an additional 10 minutes.
You can find more information on the Camera Calibrator here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/tracking/camera-calibrator/
Note that the camera calibrator does not currently handle focus calibration; however, you can add focus calibration using the Basic Calibrator.
Warmest regards,
