Using recorded shot data to make composite layers for later comping.

I love Aximmetry's ability to internally record live action footage and then position that footage in a different part of an Unreal scene (or completely other scene) at a later time.  However, is it possible to record a tracked (non-billboard) subject that has been shot over an Unreal scene and then play back the same recorded track with just the camera motion data in order to extract selected foreground elements for the same move. This would give us the ability to work with separated foreground layers later in post. What do you think?

Hi,

Yes, you can achieve this by using the Data Stream module connected to a Camera Tracking module. You can read more about this setup here: https://my.aximmetry.com/post/3093-record-tracking-data-xdata-file

Note that you have to record a video along with the tracking data. But it can be any video, even a simple solid color video, which can be generated using the Solid Color module.

If you wish to sync this with the Timecode of the camera or the other tracking recording, you should enable the Timecode Master in the INPUT:

Then turn on the Use Master TC pin in the Video Recorder:

Warmest regards,
